Lighthouse Charity Run Oct 2010

911Box were proud to support Adrian Knight and Gideon Morley in their attempt to raise £2000 in aid of the Lighthouse Club by taking part in the Lighthouse Run 2010 from John O’Groats to Lands End.

The pair completed the 1,125 mile run in Adrian’s Porsche 550 Spyder under the team name of ‘Spydermen’

The weather was kind for the trip and all went well until the pair reached Tavistock when the speed and power ebbed away and the car ground to a halt by the side of the road. It was dark by the time the RAC arrived and managed to get the car going again.

The Spyder continued on to Exeter where, stopping at traffic lights, there was a huge backfire and the engine died with smoke and flames coming out of the exhaust! A quick squirt of the fire extinguisher put out the fire but it took the help of a local garage to get the car going again the next day.

Adrian and Gideon finally finished their epic journey at 10.00 am on 13th October when they drew up outside the theme park at Land End. There was just time to sign the ‘enders’ register at the hotel before it was back on the road with the aim of arriving at the Kent Region Porsche Club meeting at Brands Hatch by 7.00 pm!

In all Adrian and Gideon completed 2,265 miles between setting off from their Kent base on the 8th October to finally arriving at Brands Hatch on the 13th October.
